Caroline C. Cowen serves as the Executive Director of the Nicaragua Freedom Coalition.

Ms. Cowen is an international consultant that works within the national security field and on topics relating to defense, and democracy. As a consultant she has worked with the Nicaraguan diaspora to convene groups on issues pertaining to political reforms. She has also conducted research on Latin American diasporas and provided technical support to the Nicaraguan Taskforce on politics and mediation, led by the Inter-American Dialogue.

She holds a Master of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where she specialized in Security Studies and International Economics. While attending SAIS, she led a team in Colombia as they analyzed the conflict with the FARC to apply lessons learned to future conflicts. 

Ms. Cowen received her Bachelor of Arts degree from DePaul University, with a concentration in International Affairs and Conflict. She also studied at Universidad de Sevilla and Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
